Tuk-tuks have their origin in Asia. They are also called autorikhsha/ autorikhshaw. The origin of the word lies in the Japanese language: jinricksha jin means “man” riki means “strength” or “power” and sha means “carrier”. Two-wheeled rikhshas are pulled by people on foot or on a bicycle. An auto rickshaw is the motorized version of the rickshaws that originated in Japan. The two-stroke engines are also called Tuk Tuk/Tuk-Tuk/TukTuk.

Autorickshaws are a common form of cab and transportation in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Arabia, and Africa (for example, Egypt and Kenya). Since 2000, tuk-tuks have also become increasingly common on the European continent.

Unfortunately, both tuk-tuks and microtransportation have been neglected in Europe. We hope that we can make a small contribution here to popularize tuk-tuks and especially microtransport, respectively the last transport mile with environmentally friendly technology.
We also hope that with our Tuk-Tuks the FUN is in the foreground and that we can make a small contribution to the deceleration of our stressful everyday life!

Subeez means “Surselva Beezers” derived from Old English means “Excellent from the Surselva”!

NO. Subeez tuk-tuks are made of fiberglass, so they are very strong, sturdy and at the same time very light. The driving style is similar to that of bicycles / scooters (Vespas) and is therefore very simple. Subeez tuk-tuks have no gears and can only be driven with gas and brake.

Every holder of a driving license category A1 (from 15 years) or a B1 ID card is allowed to drive a Subeez Tuk-Tuk.

There is room for three people in a tuk-tuk. 1 driver (front) and two guests in the back. Each seat has its own seat belt. Child seats can thus also be attached.

Subeez tuk-tuks are powered by two rear axle 4kW lift motors.

The use of hoist motors has several advantages, including compact design, quiet operation and high energy efficiency. Since the motors are mounted directly in the wheels, there is no need for additional mechanical transmission, resulting in lower energy losses and an efficient drive system, which also provides better power distribution and maneuverability.

This configuration allows for quick acceleration, climbing ability and stable handling on various road conditions.

The use of 4 kW hoist motors also provides a powerful drive solution that ensures efficient and reliable vehicle performance. Whether it’s a daily commute, hauling goods, or short trips, this drivetrain configuration provides a smooth and powerful driving experience.

Especially when driving on snow, this design is also advantageous.

Subeez tuk-tuks are manufactured in Sweden and then adapted in Surselva for Swiss mountain conditions according to motor vehicle regulations. We tested in Surselva for a year in different weather conditions such as cold temperatures, in snow and in wind. The pilot phase was successfully completed in October 2022. We provide an introduction if needed. Usually the introduction takes a few minutes. Help videos are also available.

The tuk-tuks have the necessary EU CoC certification. This approval allows us to use Subeez Tuk-Tuks as a type-certified vehicle throughout Switzerland.

EU CoC (Certificate of Conformity) certification is an important proof of a product’s compliance with applicable European standards and regulations. This certification is issued by authorized certification bodies and confirms that a product meets all relevant requirements to be sold on the European market.

EU CoC certification covers several areas, including electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, environmental compatibility, and other specific requirements that may vary by product category.

Subeez had to carefully review all of the specific requirements and procedures for their tuk-tuks and ensure that they went through all of the required testing and documentation to achieve certification.

EU CoC certification is an essential step to ensure that Subeez tuk-tuks comply with European standards and meet the requirements for sale in the European market.

Each tuk-tuk is inspected by the MFK (Motor Vehicle Inspection) and receives the official license plate.

Subeez tuk-tuks are designed for micro-transportation, so we recommend driving in a circle of 50 km. Although the tuk-tuks could do more the maximum speed is limited to 45 km/h. The maximum range is about 80 km on a full charge on the flat. Uphill, the range may be reduced, but since the vehicles recuperate (recover energy) downhill (i.e., when braking), this balances out again.

Subeez Tuk-Tuks use a LiFePO4 battery with 51.2 V – 72 Ah voltage. The LiFePO4 battery with a voltage of 51.2 V and a capacity of 72 Ah is a powerful energy storage solution for various applications. LiFePO4 stands for lithium iron phosphate, an advanced battery technology that features high energy efficiency, long life and reliability.

With a voltage of 51.2V, this battery provides stable and constant power output, making it ideal for use in electric vehicles, solar power systems, backup power supplies and other applications where a reliable power supply is required.

The capacity of 72 Ah indicates how much energy the battery can store. With such a capacity, you can achieve longer operating times before the battery needs to be recharged. This is especially useful when you are running high power devices or in situations where longer autonomy is important.

In addition, LiFePO4 batteries offer improved safety compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. They are less susceptible to overheating, overcharging or deep discharge and have a lower fire hazard. This makes them a reliable and safe choice for use in various applications.

The 51.2V, 72Ah LiFePO4 battery is an advanced energy storage solution that offers high performance, long life and improved safety. With its stable voltage and large capacity, it is ready to efficiently meet the energy needs of a wide range of applications.

With the onboard charger, a full charge at a 230 V outlet takes a maximum of 4.5 hours (900 W / 4.5 A / 230 V AC). With an external DC charger about 1 hour. Please plug the tuk-tuk back into the power outlet after returning it.

The maximum speed is 45 km/h. This serves road safety and the protection of drivers, passengers and other road users.

The limited speed allows for better control, stability or safety when using the tuk-tuk.

It is important to respect the fixed maximum speed of 45 km/h and to use the tuk-tuk accordingly. This not only ensures compliance with applicable regulations, but also contributes to the safety of all involved.

In addition, this speed is ideal for microtransport.
